What changes
Before
The hero was scared.
After
She was scared of the dark, scared of the silence, scared of what might be waiting.
Children who say they don't like writing often change their minds when they can hear the difference in their own sentences.
How sessions work
Each session moves your child's story on, and each part of the story comes with a new way to build a sentence.
- 1
A story to build
Together we plan a story your child cares about: a setting, a hero, a problem and a battle to win.
- 2
One sentence trick at a time
Each part of the story comes with a pattern authors use, taught with simple names like rainbow writing and echoes.
- 3
Straight into their own writing
Your child uses the trick in their own story in the same session, so it sticks.
- 4
A story they're proud of
They finish with a story of their own, and sentence skills they can take back into school.

About me
I'm Adam Yeo. I've taught for 14 years across Years 3 to 6, and I run World Spark, whose Story Sentences workshop takes immersive writing into primary schools. In tuition I use the same approach on a smaller scale: children build a story they care about, and learn the sentence tricks that make their writing sound like a real author wrote it.
